Highland Park Hotel, Aiken, S.C.

Oversize flat stereo by J. A. Palmer of Aiken, So. Carolina. This hotel was open November to June. The following is taken from the paper label on the back.

Situated at the Western end of Park Avenue, on the very brow of a hill overlooking a portion of South Carolina Rail Road, and a large extent of Pine Forest toward Georgia, was built in 1869 and 'to, and enlarged during 1874 to double its former capacity, by the addition of a wing 100x50 feet, four stories in height, surmounted by a French Roof, with Antique Dormer Windows, and traversed all around on two floors by spacious Piazzas. The Saloon Parlor is 60x36 feet. Rooms large, with sunny exposure, furnished with Marble-Top Walnut Furniture and Brussells Carpets, lighted with Rosin Gas, and warmed with open fire-places--Halls and Dining Room with Steam. Hot and Cold Baths on each floor, Electrical bells to every room. Grounds-A well stocked Livery Stable connected with the Hotel.

The Hotel which was built in 1870's, burned in February 1898. The property is now part of the Highland Park golf club, and the clubhouse was originally the laundry for the hotel. The land across the street has been a housing development.

Stereo is in good condition. Minor bumping on corners, and light soiling. Price (SOLD)Delivered.
